That's true, Jay, but unlike television where ratings are the sole measure, advertising on the web provides instant indication of effectiveness. Advertisers know where every click-thru came from, in real time. They know how many came from Yahoo, or Excite, or any other site whether it's part of an ad network or not.

They know which graphics on banners work and which ones don't, in real time. They can measure the relative effectiveness of prefered placement or commerce ads vs regular banner ads.

That Yahoo's advertiser count grew to a record 2,000 this quarter speaks for itself.
