When is the 85xx L3 routing switch to be released. Is Cisco late again.

As for competition, Cisco's previous competition were startups. Now its the BIG BOYZ. Cisco with their inferior products and lack of R&D will find it extremely difficult to keep up with only sales and marketing and other BS.

Yup, Chambers realises that the road ahead is VERY RISKY for Cisco, Cisco could end up like Motorola, having missed the boat on gigabit ethernet.

difference is that technology and mkt have matured to a point where, imo, 30% net margins will be very difficult to maintain;
both lucent and NT are getting into the data mkt, imo, csco does not have or even close to having siginificant products in the telephony world but both lucent and NT already have siginificant foot-hold in the data world; comfortable with around 10% net for large telephony companies where technology and mkt have matured will become key point as it can greatly impact the consistency of getting 30% net (as opposed to the Router era). Other words, 30% net can potentially become history -

another link where siginificant product line for data of lucent; real competition as well as mkt maturity and technology commonality were all missing in the past; but not today-
