J...
Funny you should ask...I have a friend whose sister used to work for AMD (I think it was). She was a "rising star", but became a Mom and enjoyed the latter so much that she quit AMD. But she really enjoyed working there (just enjoys parenthood more...which is nice to know, since I was beginning to think that everybody under 40 believs money is more important than family. Or is that "under 65"? Anyhow...) I think she may still consult with AMD on occasions.
I really should check and see if it was indeed AMD she worked for...

J - Re: "If I remember right, AMD was going to start issuing options at 50% of market to employees"

Nice try!

This is against SEC regulations. Stock options for new employees have to be pegged at current market valuations - within a 30 day window - of the start of employment.

Just think what those lucky, existing AMD employees with option strike prices set at $48 would think if the newbies walk in with $7.50 option prices.

Palace revolt! At the Sunnyvale White House!

Of course, options can be reset at a later date - with a corresponding extension of the vesting time. Usually, Sanders reserves this perk for himself and his very close "yes-men".
