>>1. usrx stuffed the channel<< You possibly would have also, if your past generations of modems had sold great. >>2. 8 billion dollar dilution<< I agree. Things did not go immediately as hoped. Modem wars were the main cause, IMO. I now believe, that COMS probably does not regret buying USRX, but it would have handled things differently. >>3. coms is ready for dsl and cable modems<< The yet to be exploited part of USRX. >>4. modem manufactures are suffering like dd manufactures - just a glut and prices have dropped to fast.<< After the weak ones drop out, the strong ones will have better control of supply and capacity. If the remaining one is at least a semi-monopoly, and efficient, it can still make lots of $$. I think this is COMS' plan. >>5. movement to v90 is taking longer than anticipated<< Yes, it's a slow process, and VERY frustrating, but not really surprising. One would think that there's something COMS can do to speed up the process, but it's easy to comment from the sidelines. I do give them credit for being the first ones out with a v90 product, so it does look like they're trying to be on top of the problem. >>6. even as we move to v90, modems are viewed as having lived there life and the next modem (cable, dsl) is ready to take its place.<< I disagree with this strongly. I think there's still a lot of life for the v90 modem. It will take longer than expected to get the other modems going. There will be many locations around the world that for a long time will not be upgraded to cable or dsl, and can only use a v90 modem. There will be lots of people that are satisfied with the v90, until the other modems being come VERY mainstream. >>7. coms could be leader in buggy whips also.<< If COMS stock goes up...I will buy the 'deluxe edition'. coms needs to leverage the usrx name in modems into the cable and dsl market to show the purchase was worthwhile. yep, that would help. 'Showing the purchase was worthwhile', seems like lots of folk think it wasn't, but it won't matter as long as COMS starts meeting its numbers...imo.
