" Being born in England, I am very much aware of how the emotions, if allowed, can be stirred by this fever of " nationalism ", can blind the mind and heart to the teachings of the Holy Spirit with-in us."

Greetings Robert. Good to hear from you again. I like your equating nationalism with a fever. In my youth, I was almost moved to tears as we raised the flag and recited the pledge of allegiance every morning. I would often imagine myself going off as a hero to fight and die for my "country" and the flag. As children we are confused and do childish things.
But now that we have entered our manhood in Christ Jesus, we put away childish things and fight the good fight of faith. We are citizens of the heavenly city but sojourners and foreigners in man's kingdoms.
We have entered into the end of the endtimes. Excessive knowledge of wordly things is overwhelming the saints and causing many to depart from the simple Gospel of the Apostles. Even the very elect are being moved. God is shaking all things that only those solidly planted on the foundation of the Apostles and the Corner Stone of Christ will stand. The tares are being separated from the wheat.

May the Lord bring to its fullness the work that he bagan in you.
The love of God, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and the grace of Christ be with you and all the holy Church of SI now and forever.

Emile
