Wow! We are a "burgeoning semiconductor" company that does 78% Networking.

I'm sure glad MRVC is in the process of getting that SIC code changed. It will probably take a few months, but it can't be soon enough to suit me.

However, positive press is positive press.

Robert,

Thanks for the link. Nice article which touches on the increasing importance of ASIC's in networking equipment (and that writers are recognizing it). Reiterates the view expressed in Red Herring, where it was also mentioned that some companies were attractive takeover targets merely because of ASIC design expertise. Clearly, MRVC's expertise in ASICs, has been, and continues to be, one of the company's real strengths.

In a perverse sort of way, to those that know something about the company, the semiconducter moniker (though it should be changed) may actually be perceived positively, and may be an indicator of the background of the company's particular abilities and one of the reasons why the company has been able to excel technologically..

Also, I recently noted the following statement in the WSJ with regard to charges for R&D: CSCO in its third quarter made three acquisitions at a cost of $521 million and took a $419 million write-off for in process R&D.

On a relative basis, you could view MRVC's charge for R&D as nothing extraordinary.
