al, I don't understand how Fidelity or any other firm can provide realistic or accurate information regarding weekly short interest. What is the source of these numbers? Is it merely a computer model used to guestimate si based on stock price and trading patterns and past monthly numbers? No one reports their short interest but on a monthly basis so it is hard to imagine that these numbers are valid. FWIW, I would venture to say that there was a good deal of covering early last week with more shorting during the remainder of the week. I would guess that the net change was about flat.
