Frank, you said >there are NO software vendors currently offering software on Zip disks! This is what has to happen for IOM's Zip business to really take-off.<

Two reasons I don't see this happening: most software now comes
on CD and every computer has a CD-drive. What does it cost to
make a CD? Must be a lot less than $1 because ISPs are giving
theirs away to prospective customers. Example: AOL, ATT,
SlipNet etc.

If software was sold on ZIP disks (even if they were as cheap
as CDs),many customers would have to exchange them for other media,
because the majority of pc owners doesn't have a ZIP.
Some vendors now allow you to buy the CD, then request floppies.
Thats cumbersome for the customer and expensive for the vendor.

Even if ZIP were to totally replace floppy drives, a CD drive
would still be cost effective. It is the cheapest way to
acquire about 500MB of fixed data and the drives are getting
to price levels were floppies were just a couple of years ago.

In summary: give me a PC with a ZIP and CD drive, but without
a floppy.
