Microsoft is clearly an internet play, IMHO. They ARE selling software (their own) over the internet. They are sell cars over the internet. They are supporting their software on the internet. Have you installed W98? The installation procedure uses the internet to search for the latest drivers to support your hardware! The internet is driving sales of MSFT software as folks buy new PCs. They are experimenting with others who are innovating new internet ideas. (You cited some examples.) The difference between MSFT and Yahoo is that MSFT has staying power and is not a likely takeover candidate. MSFT knows that they must be prepared to compete against some media giant (or sausage company) that buys a YHOO and does something incredible and new with the internet.
