Best idea buy an internal zip and an external 1.44 with the easy usb connection plug it in when you need it!!!!

Great idea. It's hard to break away from something so firmly entrenched in computers. The first computer I purchased had a 5 1/4" floppy drive and a 3 1/2" floppy drive during the "transition" period back then (1992).

We may be in another transition period now. For now, floppy disk drives can certainly coexist with internal zip drives. If I could boot to my zip drive I doubt if I would ever need a floppy disk drive. One exception right now is my Norton Utilities rescue disk feature requires three floppy disks for those who don't own a zip drive. If I could boot to my zip drive and Symantec rewrote the rescue feature to allow me to select a zip disk for ALL rescue information, that would be really neat. Right now the Norton Zip rescue feature still requires a "set" consisting of a zip disk and a regular floppy disk so my computer can boot to the floppy.

Announcements were made a long time ago that said the major BIOS writers were including the ability to boot to removable disk drives. It sure doesn't seem to be readily available though.
