Come on, you're playing with words, literally ;) TAVA can indeed fix and/or replace a subsystem that is faulty. Not only that, but they can even correct software code on non-embedded systems. At one firm they actually were repairing specialized code on a unix system that was on the factory floor. They have a very talented pool of people. highly skilled and all. So, it is more a function of that particular system engineers capabilities rather than what the company can or cannot do.

remediation (rŒ-mˆ'dˆ-ƒ'shen) noun
The act or process of correcting a fault or deficiency: remediation of a learning
disability.
- reme'diate' verb

BTW, I agree with your post: "TAVA identifies the problem and suggests a remedy
and can participate in the correction of the problem by ordering and replacing the
defective part or system if the contracted so desires."

Bill,

It would appear to me that correcting a problem by "ordering and replacing the defective part or system" meets your definition of remediation. You agree with eleebee that TAVA can do this.

So what's your problem?

Bruce

CR: You're going way overboard on the nonremediation campaign. While it is right to assert that in the embedded systems world, remediation basically means "replace"*, TAVA can play a large role in that process. They know the vendors better than most, they have it down, they can put it together, they have the experience. The new stuff all has to be inserted in the existing chain--that's the integration in "systems integration". It's work that could have a large "materials" component, which is the lowest margin stuff of all. I've never been thrilled with this part of their y2k work, but it is obviously there.

I think you are confused about the word "remediation". Sure, it is wrong to think that TAVA will accomplish remediation the same way Keane will remediate COBOL, but it is also wrong to say that TAVA does not have the capability to be involved in "the act or process of correcting a fault or deficiency" for embedded systems on the factory floor. So ease up on this, will 'ya?

Wade

* People who have studied TAVA well know this, but I agree that a number of people on the thread are/were clueless on this point.

Jeff,

Y2K stocks will fall, imo. why?

Wall Street implemented some of their computers for dummy trades
yesterday setting the date as 12-29-99. If they do not crash Thursday
watch out for Y2K stocks.

In March of 1999 this test will be performed market wide !!

PS, Have you tried it on your own computer? I did and no problem.

Joe PTG&LI !!!
