Chris, You must be tired, your getting grumpy! I've got more than 25 translations across the room. Usually, for the sake of avoiding conflict I use the American Standard of 1901, reading one I got at Zondervan's in 1957, It's probably been to 50,000 doors. You don't like us much, do you, Chris, or is it just that anyone who disagrees with you is a charlatan, and couldn't possibly be sincerely dedicated to serving God? This time I quoted the NWT. The Bible was not written in Heaven in English and delivered by angels to the Court of the King James in 1611. God in the flesh: Here's what John L McKenzie, Society of Jesus, says about the doctrine in his Dictionary of the Bible [complete with the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur, certifications of approval by the RCC] "Trinity. The Trinity of God is defined by the Church as the belief that in God are three persons who subsist in one nature. The belief as so defined was reached only in the 4th and 5th centuries AD and hence is NOT EXPLICITLY AND FORMALLY A BIBLICAL BELIEF." 899 On page 317, under GOD McKenzie says: John 1:1 should rigorously be translated: "The word was with the God and the word was a divine being." An American Translation by Smith and Goodspeed says: "the word was divine." NWT says "the Word was a god." 77 times Jesus refers to himself as the "son of man" Would Jehovah do that? Often he's called the Son of God, but never God the Son. If Jesus is God why did he need an escort of angels to introduce himself to himself in Daniel 7? "I'm ascending to my Father and Your Father; to my God and your God." [John 19:17] 8 times Scripture speaks of Jesus having a God: see Rev 3:12. In Verse 14 Jesus refers to himself as a creation of God. Does God have a God, Chris? The Eye for an Eye principle required a perfect human life, Adam's equal, to replace the liferight we lost when Adam sinned. There was no requirement that God die to save us. Just the "second Adam." Chris and Don, I noticed the JW stuff. I get particularly annoyed at the JW belief that you are justified by faith AND works. This concept violates the mercy, grace and sacrifice of Christ as well as Scripture. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - NOT by WORKS, so that no one can boast" - EPH 2:8-9 "I do not set aside the grace of GOd, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing" - GAL 2:21 I also don't understand how anyone can hold onto the Watchtower as a prohpetic word from God when it has been wrong MANY times in the past. Jehovah's Witnesses reduce Jesus to Michael the archangel. Hi Chris. I noticed the same thing. JW teach that Jesus was Michael the archangel and an angelic brother of Satan. They teach that God created Jesus as a member of the angelic order. The Witnesses are experts at using Christians symbols and Christian terminology to perpetuate their demonic cult. Like Islam, Witnesses deny the foundational teachings of Christianity like:: 1. The divinity of Christ. 2. Deny his true sonship to God (Jesus is One with God) 3. The Trinity--- The unity of -Father , Son and Holy Spirit. 4. The Holy Christiasn Church that Christ established through his Apostles and disciples. 5. That we are cleansed from our sins and reborn through the Blood of Jesus. JWs have reduced Jesus to a mere archangel.
