Congress has passed the IRS reform bill (which contains the 12 month holding period reduction for cap gains), but the President has not yet signed it. From what I read, his signing is a formality at this point, so the deal will go through. All sales beginning Jan 1, 1998 will be eligible for the new 12 month holding period change...

Good luck,
John

Yes, attended E&Y sponsored seminar in Dallas on friday where the ex IRS commissioner "speaker" announced that the legislation is on Willy Billy's desk awaiting a pawprint. Holding period will go from 18 mos to 12 mos, but don't know the effective date.
