eric-- i have long given up on the hope that the street sees reality. it just isnt the case. a couple of weeks ago DELL was in the high 70s. look at it today. it is a misconception to think that the street has information that we dont have, or is right where we are wrong. all i can say is that eventually the situation corrects itself. on the AMTX thing, i have to agree with you. EVERYONE, from telechoice, to MOT, TXN, WSTL, etc. has lied (or exagerated<G>) about DMT chipset availablity. i did not want to give the impression that the AMTX/WSTL merger should have gone through...but, if it had, i think there is a high probablity that TXN would have made at least a minority investment in the combined entity, or WSTL/AMTX would have been bought out completely by ALA or someone else. oh, i think hal and dave are right about wanting to see the money, but it isnt completely necessary. i have heard time and again that people are worried about BEL DMT. this fits in with the overall psychology of the market, that is to say we climb a wall of worry. so i think we will get BEL DMT, but the market will have no reaction because the worry will shift to competition, and show me the money. there is always an excuse. but, as previously stated, the situation will always correct itself in time. on the partnership issues, granted, but the environment is such that it is in the partners best interest to do whatever is necessary to make WSTL succeed. i dont think LU is prepared to hand over NA to fujitsu or ALA. it doesnt matter how inefficient since ALA is deploying units? are you kidding? i would love to see the profit margins on the modems and the chips. i can almost guarentee you they are negative #s. what suprises me is that ALA is already in production, but there arent a HUGE # of their units being deployed. i see this as the market waiting for better solutions. the point about the chips is that this is the first round. when TXN ramps production, they will allow users of the chips to price ALA out of the market. i feel pretty certain that TXNs manufacturing is more efficient that ALAs. good luck to all, trey
