i agree that from what i have read and how capitalistic/benevolent us American companies are- we will be mass producing a blood substitute sooner rather than later.

if drees has found something that results in the same or lower mortality rate for humans- it won't matter much what we all think. of baxter spend $120M on a plant to manufacture this stuff....assuming a NET margin of less than 100%- baxter expected much, much more than $120M in sales!

in the end, what will matter is the trial results....if positive- we are sitting on a gold mine (one that will help me retire)...if not- there will be others. in any case, our chances seem reasonable as we now have research money i place via batelle
