Tolly Group engineers evaluated a live installation, configuration and demonstration of the high-performance, MultiProtocol-Over-ATM (MPOA)-based VIVID system. ''Our tests demonstrated that the VIVID system's installation and management features considerably reduced the time and effort needed to deploy an Ethernet and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) campus network,'' said Kevin Tolly, president of The Tolly Group. ''This was accomplished by connecting automatically to a System Manager station and auto-configuring with minimum parameters required for a basic network.'' Plug-and-play, MPOA-based management is responsible for the VIVID switched routing solution's ease factor. As switches and edge devices are connected to the network, they are automatically and immediately entered into an MPOA domain. Network-administrator intervention is required in only the final step: the configuration of subnets and virtual networks through an intuitive, point-and-click graphical user interface.
