I think that the concept of Online Merchant is a fantastic one, but am concerned that Alpha is competing with the rest of Softquad on this. What is the opinion of the other readers of this thread? Maybe the two go their separate ways? Wasn't there some speculation that there was some hidden value in their xml expertise and that by selling off the html/xml tools portion of the company (Softquad itself) that would allow them to focus on the Alpha products. It was the opposite of what a few of us on the thread might like to see--because clearly the internet is where all the hype is these days. But maybe it is the best business descision--I guess it depends on what they get$$. Esecurities might be able to shed some light on this, or you could go back fifty posts or so and search around for the discussion. I have a much more simplistic view of the company: I've not sorted out these sorts of details out in my head--instead of looking at the products intelligently like you are doing I see the tiny market cap and a handful of products which could suddenly increase revenues and visibility for the company. Welcome to the thread (I don't remember seeing you here before?) your thoughts will be a welcome addition here. About all I can contribute is a feel for how fast things fly of the shelves at my local software dealers, not super useful but it's all I have to offer the thread. That and the presence of another cheerleader. If anybody can shed any light on the technical aspects of webfiler I'd like to understand that. I found a message on usenet which suggested that something to do with webfiler was one of the tools the hardcore computer nerds (hope you don't take offense if you are one...) include in their hacking tools, odd. here is the link to webfilerwebfiler.com "What is WebFiler DB? WebFiler DB is a powerful database management system (like Microsoft Access, FoxPro, or Alpha Five) that lets you easily implement interactive solutions that solve real business problems like order entry, lead tracking, inventory, registration, catalogs, and more. However, instead of being limited to local use, your data is stored on the Internet and can become a fully interactive part of your Web site." So I guess my question is, what makes webfiler better or unique when compared to the other products out there?
