An article on which processor to have in a note-book computer mentions Intel and AMD varieties.

zdnet.com

It mentions that there is little advantage to the user in going to a 266 Mhz flavor v. a 233 Mhz units. It credits AMD's K6 with similar performance to the P MMX portable processor but chides them for consuming far more power than Intel's mobile units (40 minutes less battery life). This points out where the IDTI/Centaur WinChip 2 should attract keen interest from note-book OEMs; the WC 2 should consume about half of the power of the AMD parts. That puts them in line with Intel's mobile units (designed for low power) but at a much lower price and featuring the new 3DNow! enhancements. This "sounds like" a winning combination - let's hope that IDTI can do something with it - like produce them and sell them rather than just talk about it.

I would get in when this dude establishes some upside
momentum, it might be dead money for awhile, but it
seems downside risk is minimal.
