AMAT's, and all the other semi equip makers major problem is Asia. This sector has the highest exposure to Asia of any technology sector because Asian and Japanese countries have not chosen to try to get into the semi equip market to any degree. Being huge in DRAM and SRAM, and somewhat into in ASIC's, etc., Asia and Japan buy a helluva lot of equipment from U.S. companies like AMAT. So, when Asia and Japan stop buying, AMAT etc. get killed.
