>>Yeah, he seems really stupid alright

I bet he's not stupid. What he said above is. Becuase whether microsoft earned it X or Y way is not the point nor whether it is a vastly superior or inferior company that got to where it is due to its complete geniusness or pure stupid luck.
The point is, it has a monopoly and can and does leverage it to enter new markets (expand monopoly) and to dictate standards and ways by tying its products.

The fact is, as internal documentation and testimonies from companies that deal with MS, MS uses predatory tactics to crush competetion, and uses coersion in dealing with OEMs to their likings.. blah blah blah the web is full of evidence.

>>No, that probably because it's true.

Probably? Sounds you're unsure. Hmmm.
Let's say PROBABLY, how did you reach this probability?

We're just having fun here ...

You Redmond guys are wound a little tight. Grab a beer. This is the thread where we get to vent.

As for being a jack@ss ... everyone knows I'm a jack@ss. They've read my posts.

I must set the record straight. I never said Mr. Henderson was stupid. I said, "If his title were 'Incompetant Boob' I could accept his positions as being sincere."

I don't think he's an idiot. He REMINDS me of an idiot. That doesn't mean he is one.

And no his credentials don't impress me. After all, HE got a degree in Economics. I rest my case.

I know next to nothing about software but I'll give odds I know infinitely more about software than this Economics Professor. I'm no lawyer either, but at least I've read the DOJ complaint against Microsoft. That's more than I can say for people writing articles on the case. I'm just waiting for an article that addresses the DOJ charges.

Even if the DOJ wins their lawsuit what is the punishment going to be? "Don't do that again"?

You didn't find an example of Microsoft being innovative. I happen to think Microsoft Excel is great. I think the minverse and mmult functions are the greatest thing since twist-off beer bottles. I want Bill Gates to make $50 Billion more. My land in Washington goes up in value with every product Microsoft sells.

We like to pick on Microsoft because they are an easy target and it's fun. Many of us know that Linux is a faster/cheaper/better operating system and the K-desktop will be a better desktop. For a look check out kde.org

That doesn't mean Microsoft is going to go bankrupt. You won't see me short their stock.

Microsoft is a great internet play and will continue to dominate the desktop for years. Why are you guys so sensitive?

But you gave me a great idea. I was thinking of a tagline for Linux like:

LINUX ... Real Power to the People

but I think the idea you gave me is better:

LINUX ... Any Jack@ss Can Install It

Thanks a lot. It's been fun.

Best of luck.
