They buy/sell, add up orders, and set the price of the stock they tell you how much they will pay (bid) and how much they want (ask or offer). also how many shares they will take/sell. They all publish the results on an electronic bulletin board as of 10:25 am , the bb of mamh looks like firm bid ask size date time phone # indicators wein .04 / .055 pgon .046 / .071 fran .040 / .060 mash .045 / .060 mhmy .045 / .065 gvrc .020 / .100 shrp .040 / .080 hill .040 .070 we see that we have one bid at .046, two at .045 and three at .040 this is support we only have one ask at .055, when thats bought, next stop .060 out of time more to come if requested
