Jack, also to consider is the longer term split situation.

If Dell were to do a 3/1 Dell would have to wait until shareholders again authorized additional shares in order to get a split of substance.

A 3/1 could only allow a 3/2 next year whereas a 2/1 this year could be followed by another 2/1 next without going back to the shareholders.

My vote is it will be a 2/1 when it comes.

I agree, the two to one is better in that you have 2 splits instead of one, and also end up with more shares, in two year time frame. It is not Dell's history to 3:1 splits. People get confused at first when they see the obvious 3:1 in the share increase ratio.

Not likely, a 3:1.
