Re: "So where the hell has all the R&D been going?"

It's been going to develop the process and processor that could run at 400mhz as well as chipsets and other support chips. I think alot of the charges are also going into projects we haven't seen yet.

Pravin,

The Xeon IS a PPro with MMX.

So where the hell has all the R&D been going?

All these Intel R&D funds has gone straight to ZD for the project called "Buiness Winstone98" to assure PII has performance edge over Cyrix M2.

The money raise-up "Business Winstone98" has been designed so succesfully that the cacheless PII is not too much slower than the PII. The work has been proved perfectly as projected recently that the the full-speed L2 cache Xeon is not much faster than the half-speed cache Pentium II to run under Winstone98.

You have to admit that these R&D has been well spend by the technology lose, INTEL. It works!
