Changes at Newbridge Networks Board of
Directors

KANATA, Ontario, July 7, 1998 - Newbridge Networks Chairman Terence Matthews today announced
that the number of inside members of the Board of Directors is being changed to provide better balance
with outside director representation. As a result, Peter C. Madsen, Daniel C. Rusheleau and Peter
Sommerer have relinquished their seats on the Newbridge Board of Directors. Mr. Rusheleau and Mr.
Sommerer will continue to be associated with Newbridge Networks through their respective roles in
Newbridge Affiliate companies.

A Director of the Company since September 1987, Mr. Rusheleau is President and Chief Executive
Officer, West End Systems Corporation. He will direct his full attention to the successful growth and
development of West End, a leading vendor of alternate radio frequency (RF)-based technologies,
including Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC), wireless and powerline communications equipment.

Mr. Sommerer has been appointed to the Newbridge Chairman's Executive Council and will focus his
attention on further developing the Company¡s internetworking solution, including IP solutions
developed by Vienna, TimeStep Corporation, ACC, Bridgewater and other Newbridge Affiliates. Mr.
Sommerer, Chairman of Newbridge Affiliate company Vienna Systems Corporation, will also take on a
greater role in the day-to-day management of the Voice-over-IP (VOIP) networking solutions vendor.

Are you sure about that Pat? Because the source of those rumours was an Ottawa Citizen article, which was posted on this thread.

I was discounting the rumors. Meaning, I hadn't heard from anyone reliable.
