Mr. B.....

I can always count on you for a great laugh....

Once there was an "for sale" sign in a Portuguese office supply store, that read along the lines of :

"For sale: office desk with gyrating chair."

(in Portuguese, from Portugal, which is somehow different than Portuguese from Brazil).

Portuguese and Spanish are fairly similar languages that if one spends some time in the respective countries where the languages are spoken, I believe one can understand them.

In fact, in Brazil, they have something called "Portu¤ol", which is the Portuguese spoken in Brazil, modified so that it is easier understood by Spanish speaking people (primarily from Latin America, as Spanish from Spain is somehow different, much like American English, and the Queen's English).

But there are some differences.... to illustrate, the above for sale sign, when read by a Spanish speaking person, it meant:

"For Sale: Secretary, with gyrating hips"

I wonder if the clerk at the office supply store ever received inquiries, from eager Spanish speaking people, wanting to take a peak at the Secretary with the gyrating [and magical] hips....

Then the face of disappointment when shown a mere desk and gyrating CHAIR......
