The stock was down due to the fact that VLNC did not and has not given news of any customers. If VLNC had a substantial, committed customer, they would not have waited until the conference call to release the news. However, the market seemed to expect an 8am press release and then subsequent discussion on the day of the call.

All 10K's are required to give warning to investors of the potential hazards of investing in the company. They stop short of including wayward asteroids. With a stock with as much promise as VLNC which has the potential for hyperbole, and because of the previous shareholder suit, it behooves VLNC mgmt to not lighten up on previous warnings of the dangers of investing, especially because of the financial situation which, by the way, has been very well publicized in the quarterly conference calls.

VLNC has a large patent portfolio and a proven licensed basic rechargeable cell and is a pure play in any success that this might bring. This is a story stock where the script reads like a screenplay from "Scream 2". If the science and technology of the basic product is sound and if analysts are aware of this, then the price would still be down because most mutual funds have guidelines that limit the amount they can invest in micro-caps and they also have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to not invest in companies that don't known customers and clear financial path.

The risk/reward factor for VLNC stock is difficult to ascertain, but I suspect it favors a stake in the company and heck, it beats the odds of state lotteries and New Jersey and Nevada casinos. If you just want to have a little fun and save the hotel bill and airfare, I say, jump on in. All we're missing is bright lights and beautiful women, and with a little ingenuity, those might be jury-rigged somehow.
