I sell advertising to companies. I also deal with a lot of consumers to get their feel for an ad or a blurb. People like simplicity. The masses love things that are fast and easy. Call it instant gratification or simply a result of overly short attention spans.

If someone has used Amazon and has enjoyed good service, they'll more than likely remain a loyal customer, even if their books are on average $1 or $5 over the competition. Price is not the only factor when making a purchase. Familiarity is a strong tentacle.
