Hello Del,

I only know of a few denominations that may actually encourage their parishioners to not read the Bible. I feel that this is directly contrary to God and probably done to maintain power in a church hierarchy. I know it happened in the past, but I don't know if any churches currently do this. I hope there aren't any, but I'm betting you know of a few.

To be straightforward with you, I used to think that the Old Testament was just a bunch of myths. This, of course, was before I was a Christian. I can see how they look like myths. They are definitely supernatural.

I came to Christianity because of Jesus and the events surrounding his time concerning the willingness of people to die gruesome deaths just because they wouldn't worship Roman leaders nor deny Christ. The theology of Jesus concerning human's constant craving to sin and Jesus' death to attone for our sins also makes a ton of sense to me. I'd be willing to listen to any plausible theory you have concerning who Jesus was, what he did, and why he got so many people to go to their deaths for his name after he died. That's the crux of Christianity. Jesus is the Son of God.

God bless,

Grant
