Another confirmation that IDX is targeting the right market niche. It appears that IDX's goal is not to provide everybody with a scanner, but to provide customized security to computer networks built around mainframe computers or powerful PC servers. These customers have an immediate need and the money and the willingness to pay for customized protection. These are the early adopters that will pay IDX's bills, while the low-end players are waiting on ubiquity.

For everybody to have a scanner, they will have to be very cheap. Are the $100 scanners flexible enough to operate in more than the specific environment they were designed for? Can the same scanner be used in different systems throughout the company? How many customer support people do you need to support $100 scanners sold to Ma and Pa to protect their PCs or do their internet shopping?
