Signs of more prison bio-ID activity, this time in Illinois . . . .

Last year, IDX announced a $1.3 million deal with the Illinois Department of Corrections to install TP-600s in maximum security prisons in Stateville and Joliet, as well as elsewhere. They are used for "offender processing" and have mug shot capacity.

The February 1998 edition of "Making Corrections Technology Work For You" (talk about your specialty publications), notes that "Illinois reported that in conjunction with the planned NCIC 2000 changes, it is reviewing the use of single fingerprint technology for visitor control in maximum security prisons."

Want to bet it is an IDX pilot, given the recent California announcement and the IDX presence in those Illinois facilities?
