Speaking of DRAM:

Hitachi To Start 256 Megabit DRAM Sales In August

TOKYO (Reuters) - Hitachi said today it would start selling next-generation 256 megabit dynamic
random access memory (DRAM) chips in August.

A company spokesman said Hitachi would make several tens of thousands of the chips per month by the end of this year and planned to increase monthly production to more than 500,000 units by late 1999.

The company would also sell memory modules based on the 256 megabit chips, which will be used to boost the memory capacity of personal computers, the spokesman said.

Samples of the 256 DRAM chip will be priced at $255 per unit, Hitachi said in a statement.
