>>>Ed, very few oem's have been confirmed (NDA's and all that)<<<.
So Ancor has the same problem. What we have is alot of rumors from one source. Some verifiable some clearly not. I wouldn't take BS as gospel. He may be accurate and at the same time may be leaving out the facts that he wishes to. Sometimes you have to watch the game inside the game to get the complete story as pointed out to me yesterday by a systems integrator. Sequent was an important one to lose, not only because it was major bucks but because it was not really being sold as a peripheral.

Would appreciate comments on an Adaptec takeover. Adaptec's strength has been at the desktop and midrange workstation. Ancor much more geared to the high end network. Did I miss something(I probably did),
or does Adaptec have a division that would create a bridge, that could make a purchase of Ancor work for them. Unless they are just planning to get into another business, this seems like a bad idea. You'd have to keep all of the essential ASIC teams, all of the upper management, except for Steve Snyder, so the money you save is some minor administrative costs for a company that has no chance at any OEM's. Just doesn't seem to be a good fit between the two companies. Adaptec is in trouble because it is being squeezed from every direction. A buy of Ancor either radical or desparate. No?
