Re: "Then they missed badly and as Institutions often do they dumped quickly after the miss. I don't think this will happen and I certainly don't want it to happen...just used it as an example of what can happen."

I don't think Intel will play possum with Wall St. If they are going to miss badly they would have pre-warned! Craig Barrett said on his trip to Tokyo just after last report he sees recovery in 2H98 and hasn't changed that publicly yet. Now in a logical conclusion do you think a new CEO in a company who has be forward with Wall St would want to destroy that now? If anything he probably wants to surprise in a positive way which is why IMO they closed those 2 fabs for a few weeks (which will effect 2H98 savings).

Also they are publicly very aggressive with the FTC charges. This company is sending very very positive messages to investors. They have very unique problems and are dealing with every one of them.

Even Krulak's ML (who is still negative on Intel) has a 70c 2Q earnings call.

The only think has me concerned for very short term is progress on that bug fix havn't heard latest on that yet. It's little things like that that gives profit takers a reason to sell.
