I know he got to Cyrix after they started the whole 5x86 and 6x86 naming convention. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who stopped their use.

I would argue that the P6 would be successful regardless of who did the marketing. It doesn't take much work to get a captive audience of OEMs to jump on the next Intel processor bandwagon.

Now marketing Cyrix parts to top tier OEMs who want to remain friendly with Intel is a different story. I sure he had to earn his paycheck in that job.

I would make a guess that he jumped to NVIDIA based on an offer of a lot of founders stock and the expectation that they were going public this year. If they hold off on the IPO much longer, maybe 3dfx could hire him away 8^).
