I am not really out to bash E-trade, but trying to see what it takes to be a satisfied customer and it's good to hear how others to it.

However, E-Trade seems to have this thing about disavowing responsibility even when not necessary. I just lost an opportunity when their system lost an order. I put in a simple market order, got a transaction number, but the order just disappeared. Then I made an e-mail inquiry about the procedure for me to take in such a case. In reply the service rep was so focused on trying to shift blame on me that she forgot to answer my question. So I still don't know what to do when they lose orders other than just absorb the loss.

I suppose I could call them up like you did, but since I live abroad this means an international call and the reason to go E-trade is to cut out such costs. I guess they need to train their customer reps better. I hope to continue with them anyway, since I hear that other on-line brokers also have such problems with their order system.
