However, even if you take away all the rumor innuendo and every post of that nature, I still believe there's enough factual data to infer a good Q3 result.

Thanks. My post about these "sources" is totally unrelated to what I think Q3 is going to be. I think Q3 is going to be fabulous. However, I have to come to that conclusion through Eric's amazing work and information and from our discussions here, etc. I was just commenting on the rumors and that I think the real answer lies solely with Steve and Fred.

Here's to a great Q3!

"No way! I'm trying for Eric's MVP (Most Vicious Poster) title! OK, I'll tone it down some, sorry. You're right, we are on the same side."

Hey if you want to be Most Vicious Poster...you'll have to try harder. ;-)

Anyway, onto the more serious stuff. As Bruce and lawmac pointed out there were two after hour transactions each involving 762,200 shares for a total of over 1.5 million shares. Kind of strange...

On a lighter note, I posted an article on Whipsernumber.com and a picture of AMP on Mac Evolution. The site was down most of this morning. I got so fed up with that host I signed up with a new provider. The www.macevolution.com URL will automatically be transferred to the new server in a day or two but in the mean time 207.153.240.81 will take you directly to the new server.

Good luck tomorrow.

Eric

OK - received this from a colleague. The seminar is in Sept. Have never heard even rumors of the G3 Unix boxes - running three Os's at the same time. Also - what is the G3 Web Station.... sounds pretty cool - even the naming that would help differentiate from Web Server.

Apple Computer, Inc. Presents:
Solutions for Technical Professionals

This seminar will present exciting, compelling new technologies from
Apple Computer, Inc., National Instruments, Inc., Tenon Intersystems,
Conix and Connectix all aimed at research professionals. By attending
this seminar, you will:

Learn about Apple's latest G3 computer systems, the world's fastest
desktop computer, as well as a glimpse into future products - both
hardware and software.

See National Instruments' brand-new line of PCI-based data acquisition
cards for the Macintosh which offer astonishing performance and include
completely PowerPC native drivers for ADC, GPIB, and VME solutions.
You'll also see a demo of these products using the brand-new version of
LabVIEW.

Learn about the exciting new G3 Unix Workstation, a special software
bundle aimed directly at helping research scientists become more
productive. This new system can run three operating systems
concurrently, and offers unparalleled management of your technical
workflow.

With the G3 Web Station you'll learn about the brand-new Apache
web-server solution for Power Macintosh G3 systems. Create, Test and
Deploy a web site all from one system

See a live demo of the G3 Unix Workstation and G3 Web Station

Please join us - we look forward to showing you the new Apple and
gathering your feedback.

Just keep in mind that this is AAPL, the street's pet whipping boy. Sell on the news is also a factor, because this is a momentum build stock. The momentum boys can take the air out of a stock faster than they build it.

When a stock is already at January 1996 levels, the pressure to sell on the news is strong. Remember, just the fact that it's 3 whole months until the next earnings report means "sell" to some folks.

We love what the iMac is going to do for Apple, and see it as something of a given. There's a great big crowd of investors who are more uncertain. The negativos like to shoot down anything that sounds positive for AAPL. They are already discounting the effect of the iMac based on its relative price without giving the least consideration for its performance.

I'm not trying to be negative. On the contrary, I've already stated that holding through till next earnings will be eventually accretive. I'm just trying to be realistic about the short term action after earnings.

More weirdness from Mac the Knife:

Meanwhile, weather satellites gyrating far above Silicon Valley have detected evidence of a new tectonic shift toward six-slot Power Macs, some of them bearing a Voodoo 2 card guaranteed to put most Mac games into hyperdrive.

NASA only knows whether these new manifestations are prototypes or the real deal. The Knife sez, "Keep watching the skies!"

Is this just more deception and chicanery from Apple? Who knows...MTK has as many hits as misses with his rumors. All indications are that Apple is only putting four PCI slots in their newest units, one of them being a 66Mhz speedster designed to hold the card for an expansion chassis. Doh!
