Please use "OT" when not discussing ATHM.
I'm tired of wasting time on non-ATHM posts!

Competition is inherently unfair. To use unfair to adjectivally modify the word competition is oxymoron. Fairness means something like there is no winner. All end up the same. That isn't an adequate definition. This isn't what you mean by the word, "fair", but I defy you to define the word. The definition itself is perfectly subjective and hence perfectly ambiguous. We all think we know what it means, but when we try to specify the meaning, it vanishes.

The word competition is definable, but I can't find one in a hundred who can define it. Even though it can be defined, the definition either has 1,000 words in it or is unclear.

The result is we have two words which are essentially meaningless yet we attempt to control behavior because we act like we know what they mean. The controls have never benefited anyone, but we persist in engineering more of them. It's clear we live in a primitive culture and most are barbarians especially the ones who think they know what is fair.
