I know Platinum very well, headquarters in Oak Brook Illinois. I bought and sold it a number of times. Unfortunately I bought at $12 and sold at $14. Bought at $13 sold at $15 and missed the big run. Many successful firms can grow thru acqusition. If you can gain market share, lower costs, vertical integration, emerging enterprises, undervalued enterprises, compliment your product breadth or depth, increase you scale and lower costs, acquire technology to compliment existing operations, etc etc. As long as you don't suffer inordinate dillution and the acquistions are accretive in the reasonably near term growth thru acqusition will work if you can make yourself aware of opportunities, due good DD, buy at a good time and price, and have the pieces fit in your strategic plan. You can grow one awsome company if you have the knack and vision to do it.
