What's ironic is, the Borders Ceo said this about 3-4 months ago.
If you could take the time to back into the archives here, you'd find it.
I can't, I'm trying to find the time, to read the last book I bought from Amzn or B&N(I can't remember which one).
Where are you guy's/gal's getting the time to read all these BOOK'S??

Excellent way to get my point across about the inevitable errosion of margins on net business.

I think there are several advantages that a Borders or Barnes & Noble can bring to the party. As I mentioned in a previous post, it is posible for them to tie the internet to "Internet Neighborhood Kiosks" located in every store. These stores are already gathering places for people to brouse around, sip a latte, and meet others. The sense of community is part of the way they stimulate business - part of their "modus aperandi" already. Extending that concept to the internet is a natural progression. What better climate for book readings and introductions than being able to "meet" with the author or a world-wide discussion group moderated by the author or editor. The stores can offer a nice enhancement to normal internet access and can help bring attention to the company's physical locations. Some people may be inclined to find out about the latest hit novel over the internet but then might feel welcomed to visit the physical location to make the purchase. Barnes and Noble and Borders could offer the book at the store at a slightly higher price than the internet price, but still within the price plus shipping costs. Amazon.com can't compete against that, both in pysicality and in mental impact. "We do the internet neighborhood, only better - we are in your neigborhood and on the net" might be the competitors motto.
