SL,

Along those lines, maybe SFE will become like one of these web portal sites (Excite, Yahoo, AOL, etc.). They won't actually be a VC firm anymore, but will use their brand name to get people into (and out of) all the little VC funds.

Safeguard.com can become a meta-site for all kinds of investments, and they can make their money off a percentage of assets under management, or referral fees, or whatever. At some point, they will need to pare down and play a few big companies, or keep getting more fractionated and diverse, to the point where all they can mange are the funds, not the individual companies.

Half seriously,

--John

My 2cents-
It seems to me that the market has some serious doubts about the TLAB deal going through-there is a pretty hefty divergence between TLAB and CCSC these days. Thus I would doubt that the TLAB deal is holding up SFE's price-if it can't even hold up the price of CCSC, the direct recipient of the merger.
