Wind River Systems Introduces Embedded Industry's Most Comprehensive TrueFFS(R) Solution -- TrueFFS for Tornado Provides Embedded Developers Flash Memory Solution Across a Variety of Architectures

ALAMEDA, Calif., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: WIND - news) today announced the availability of TrueFFS(R) for Tornado(TM) on eight architectures, shattering the industry standard of two architectures. TrueFFS for Tornado -- an integrated Flash File System (FFS) for Wind River's Tornado development environment -- provides a smooth integration for embedded system developers using flash memory devices in new designs. With TrueFFS for Tornado, embedded developers can create an FTL-compliant Flash File System -- similar to the one on their desktop personal computers -- which allows the developer to use a common, well-understood mechanism for storing data. FTL, based on M-Systems patented TrueFFS technology, allows the implementation of a Flash Disk by using standard, widely available flash components in the most cost-effective way. Flash memory, or a memory chip that holds its content without power, is becoming more common as a storage device in palmtops, digital cameras and other consumer products.

Greg,

this is the type of stuff that DOJ needs to go after MSFT for.

As a monopoly, you make an announcement of vaporware strictly for the purpose of freezing the competition.

I am saddened by the fact that I will never have a good OS for my home computer because MSFT has destroyed all incentive to inovate. I am further saddened by the fact that we will never see improvements in browsers, now that MSFT has destroyed Netscape.

Lets hope Jason excel in his new job and blow the competition away.
