No, there is special hardware involved - specifically FPGA's (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) - the Quickturn machine is both custom hardware and custom software all combined in a package designed to do one thing (hardware emulation) and do it well. Sorry I wasn't clearer in my earlier posting.

As far as price, it depends on which model and what features, but I imagine the price range is between 50K and 200K (US). However, it has been a while since I spent much time in the digital area, so if anybody out there has more current info please feel free to jump in.
