If I was Bill Gates, and I was watching Yahoo, what I'd be thinking is that for $200 million I could add ten billion to the value of Microsoft. By creating my own Internet Portal, I could offer free advertising for a couple of years until Yahoo falls under the weight of competition from the world's largest software company. World Domination would be one step closer. I'd control the operating system, the browser, and the portal, www.MSN.com. Vertical integration at its finest. Watch out, Janet Reno.
