Dear Gregory: God Bless !!YOU. in Jesus name. Have you ever wondered if and when you find Christ where will He be? How will you know it is Him ? Will it be a cold calculating decision you make or will you be pouring out your heart to Him like a giddy schoolchild. You said in a previous post> "I don't believe that the only purpose in life is to glorify God--it may be true: but in my heart I don't believe it; as an afterthought you say there may be several ways of glorifying God >" There are millions and billions of ways of glorifying God. When a person is "right with God" every idea, every thought every action is interpreted by God as an act of glorifying Him. When we are right with God our breath, an eye blink, a heartbeat, the growth of our toenails is an act of glorifying God. But when we are not right with God we can by the same token have millions and billions of ways to not glorify Him. Our thoughts, our ideas, our intentions, our motives, and our goodness then will be only filthy rags to Him. What on earth am I saying.? This. You are now born of the flesh. God is a spirit. Nothing we can do in the flesh is pleasing to Him.We must be born of the spirit to find salvation. Even for Christians the actions thoughts ideas motives ect. that are born of the flesh are not pleasing to God; but those things in us that come from the new rebirth of the spirit ARE pleasing to God. Even Christians war against the flesh, all the time for many,but that is not the will of God. As Paul says we are to crucify the flesh each day just as Christ was crucified. It is a daily struggle . But with the knowledge that only God can give us victory over the flesh, I.E. we fail every time all the time when we rely on ourselves, we will live lives pleasing to our God. You get into the idea of churches and governments not having the right to restrict how we think and act. God approves of earthly governments. Remember way before King David was King. God hesitated when the people wanted an earthly King. Why my brother ? It was because He knew some Kings would do exactly as you say , take advantage of the power that God had given them. The same with church leaders. But that still is God's chosen way to manage the affairs of earthy governments. Remember the earth had one language at one time then God put many languages and therefore many governments on the earth along with the many languages. Why my brother. Ans. It was God's way of controlling situations before they got completely out of hand. Too much damage could have been done according to God's purposes if all the earth could be controlled by one government and one language. But look what is coming in the end times. A one world government. God forbid and look at the destruction that will result from it. So what am I saying. This. God is a free God and wants His people to have freedom also. Yes He ordained world government but these governments had better watch out for JEHOVA if they think they can use the power He gave them to bind and whip and herd, and obstruct HIS children. Get my point ! Now Jesus and sin.You say..."The idea of Jesus forgiving all our sin! Based in the need to be ABSOLVED" Perhaps Jesus does forgive sins, this provides hope. My brother, My brother !! I have been a Christian 30 years, have won many to the Lord; you are going to be the next.( with God's help )( I hope )!! I'm sorry; but this is very very funny to me , forgive me but I don't want you to think I'm laughing at you. I'm laughing because I'm laughing at myself-- my old nature is coming out here ( I've told you about that old nature in previous posts). The ONE THOUGHT that came into my mind when I read your words about the need for absolution was . ABSOLUTION ! forget that. I'm just happy Jesus paid the price for my sin. Brother I do not want to spend an eternity in hell nor do I want to be put to death on a cross and tortured. Thank God somebody was able to have the guts and determination to step forward and pay the penalty for me. But Gregory, it was much more than guts and glory that kept Jesus on that cross. It was love. Do I take that for granted many times. Sadly I do. Do I think to myself. What kind of FOOL was God to take my place. Sadly I do. But He did, and someday maybe just maybe I will be able to understand that kind of love. As of this moment of being a Christian 30 years I do not. But I will keep trying as long as there is breath and life in me. Take heart my brother. Do you see the impossibility of my task. I try to explain something to you that I do not understand myself after 30 years. Do I understand it more than you ? Yes I do ! But I also play chess and see 2 steps ahead while the master sees 8 to 15 steps ahead. Have I not told you. You need prayer. I have gone through what you are going through. Any birth is not easy. The contractions come in waves over your head. Your day of delivery is very close. I know it sounds too simple which it is anything but that. I dont have all the answers but I know when the doctor shows up the birth is not far away. You will know this doctor by name when He shows up. Dr. Jesus. In Christ.gregor
