I do not think you will find a market maker willing to participate in a completely automated system. Without MMs, who takes the other side?? The liquidity function magically becomes irrelevant? It takes substantial amount of somebody's capital to take the other side of a transaction in the marketplace, particularly during selloffs or strong runups.

I like your idea about moving to NYSE, a much more fair market that already has an electronic book. But then we would have to give up the volatility and electronic day trading which many are not willing to give up.

If worse comes to worse, maybe we should boycott the NASDAQ and just play with NYSE and AMEX for one full week. Maybe they would get the picture real fast.

They would use the opportunity to fleece the "outside" investors...
