Mike, I agree with your point that Amazon did blaze the trail
on internet retail/marketing, but disagree with:

They have been remarkably productive, have proven that an internet
book dealer can be profitable ...

One of the problems with AMZN is it just keeps burning more money,
and is increasingly unprofitable (EPS) per Zacks:
q197 q297 q397 q497 q198 q298(est.)
-0.06 -0.14 -0.18 -0.19 -0.20 -0.38

an observation: a weird thing happens with negative earnings
when shares are diluted: the EPS numbers get better (closer
to zero) ... doesn't really apply to AMZN, something to keep in
mind.

sat, ok, they have ben productive. they have been able to grow sales nicely. they most assuredly HAVE NOT proven they are or even can be profitable. do you believe they are profitable?

they have been successful in many ways. however, normally one expects to have some sort of earnings before making 15 times their money in less than 2 years...

their long term success, however, is highly questionable.

Mike,

Excuse me! Profitable? Please explain that to me.
