You hit it right on the nail. The "end-to-end" approach is why Cisco has been so successful.

At this early stage, I don't think the SAP vs. Seible question is an "either or" investment decision. I own both (but a lot more SAP) and both have done well in the market. I would assume that if Seible really wants to closely integrate with SAP it can develop or buy the technology. At least as far as sales force automation goes, trying to get left brained salesmen to use complex software is a bit like herding cats. Salesmen, and many of the other front office employees are interested in people, not machines and technology. The simpler and more specialized the software, the better.
Your post nicely details some of the pros and cons. If Seible could get a quarter of companies using SAP, and the majority of companies using other ERP vendors, this would be a lot of business for a company the size of Seible. So far, the entire market space is mostly unfilled, and there may be room for both. It's just too early to be sure.
