Yaacov, you are most welcome.

Intel's earnings statement was kind of weird. When all was said and done, they took a charge of $0.04 a share against earnings. This was because their manufacturing processes had actually improved faster than expected, or planned, so that they produced more product than planned. They had to write it off, hence the 4› a share against earnings. I think that's the way it went. Anyway, without the charge, they would have made 70› a share and beat estimates! So, they were too good, and it cost them! The street seems to like it, however (Mikey likes it!). Up $2.

Compaq looks to be not so much loved, even though they made 2›. My wife thinks Eckhard has not been taking his Lithium and has gone somewhat mad, what with all his moves of the past two years...buying Tandem, buying DEC, flooding the sales channels with >$2,000 PC's last holiday season. I agree with her, but, once I get an opinion, I can hold it much too long.

California is joining a lot of the rest of the country for the next four days with hot weather. Fortunately, it's not humid and the coast is only 20 minutes away. Always cool there. Last time I drove through your part of Italy, it was this time of year and it was amazingly beautiful, cool and the air was as clean as New Hampshire!

Buon Giorno,

Tony
