Well, PCI 64 is old if you consider PCI 128 has been launched. Encore is almost one year old and a new PC-DVD product is about to be launched this quarter (I wonder what that is, probably a 5x drive to replace Encore's at a similar price point, and move Encore down a notch or two).

I don't think the delay of SB Live caused inventory to rise, if anything that depleted inventory even more which is good.

Any technology company will have to make price cuts in the order of about 35% per year if you want to keep to Moore's law. So nothing inordinate here.

The next few weeks will be very interesting as SB Live is launched. This product which uses Microsoft's APIs like DirectSound and DirectSound3d has a good chance of taking some share away from proprietary APIs like A3D. And it also addresses the criticism long levelled at CREAF that its cards did not support the main 3D APIs.
