Matt wrote "Can anyone give me any reasons why aapl will continue to head north.." The short answer is iMac and the long answer is iMac. IF these are a success then their impact is likely to be much greater than their actual sales since everyone will remember each one they see (they are rather distinctive) and they are likely to be most popular with the trendies. My guess is almost every PC used in movies and TV in the next few months will be an iMac.
However, the techs as a group are absurdly priced, IMHO, and the inevitable downfall is likely to apple along.

I'm in the same boat Matt! I believe I've missed a couple of sell opportunities as well. I could take a substantial profit if I would sell at these Prices!, I'm averaged down to $15.8 per share and have not added any shares since 12/13/97 But Im out of Range as far as the Capitol Gains deadline with most of my shares ( most are < 18 months old).

I believe this time it Will be different as: we have had 2 successful quarters and will add a third with this reporting, and with the new iMac coming out 8/15 it should build a *nice* 4th quarter.

So my conclusion: It may drop a bit after earnings but will continue upward into the Fourth quarter as it has a good outlook.

If you sell now, you may get a chance to get back in if it drops after earnings.

good luck and here's to Thinking Differ-NT .......

Can anyone give me any reasons why aapl will continue to head north after what i am sure will be a
good earnings report. It just seems that with apple that the price always drops after release of good
news. Why would the price act any different this time?. I missed the boat several times over the last
year to sell on news because i am just too damn optimistic about apple.

I think this is a reasonable concern. This is a crazy market, with lots of traders seeming to dominate over investors. Compaq reports positive earnings, above expectations, good conference call with positive forward looking statements. Stock down this morning, traders taking profits. Intel misses earnings, stock up 2 this morning. Hard to figure out, but unbridled optimism about stock price rising after positive earnings is misplaced IMHO. However, positive earnings do speak well for a long term hold.
